Why ...... I dont understand why a Dragon Knight is so under classed than all the other character classes ... A DK has to get into the thick of battle being hit by all the baddies around him as well as all the range baddies while every other class can stand back and watch us die .. they have better armour available to them I mean I am a level 43 DK and my armour value is 1867 and a Ranger I was playing with that was the same level had an armour value of more than 2900 which is way more than my DK ... The other classes ... spell weaver, ranger and mechannic get to stand back across the battlefield and never get hit but the DK has to take the heat and run block for every other class ... This really should be looked into ... for it is way out of balance ... And you other classes ... it is your job to take care of the range baddies while the Dragon Knights handle the hand to hand ... Dragon Knights need a long range attack of some kind ... because the jump attack just doesnt cut it ... it still is putting us up close and personal with every stinking baddie on the battle field ............................................................hey all you other classes.................................. quit hiding behind rocks and barriers, leaving the dragon knights to take all the heat while you long range fighters, (spell weavers, rangers, and mechanics), gang up on 1 baddie off in a corner somewhere .... while you are not being hit and are doing a great job of hiding ... the dragon knight is getting hit by 10 hand to hand baddies and 5 long range baddies all at one time... and then you get all mad and wonder why the dragon knight is dead all the time ... yeah the dragon knight is going to die if you dont have his back !!! a dragon knight is dying because he refuses to run away and hide behind a barrier or rock ... so if the dragon knight you are running with is dying .... look at your own game play ... the dragon knight is dishing out all the damage he can and doing his best to keep the baddies off you ............................................................................................ .... I am sorry, I just had to vent ... Nothing personal twards anyone or any one class .... just somethiing to think about ...

You have to remember something here......you just started playing. After 4-5 events and a few PW's under your belt, your armour will jump up. PLus when you go farm for uniques for your class (which is Keens) that def helps.

As far as others with the ability to range attack, that's the class you chose when you started the game. There are advantages to a DK. And being the armour and hp that a DK can have.

When battling mobs with rangers and weavers I like to people I know in the game. Ones I know how they play...sorta speak. And when in the middle of a mob you gotta sometimes move constantly. With that low of armour, steadily move lol

Keep your chin up fellow DK, it'll get better ;)

You are still new to the game. You need to work harder on farming equipment.
This is my level 40 DK (hit level 40 with Dessert of Essences event) ... I am doing solo event bosses(since bosses on my level on regular maps are no match for me :D ): New Moon, Full Moon, Dessert of Essences, Dragan Event ....
With this setup I have more block rate and armor but less HP ... I was doing solo runs on Dragan and on Dessert of Essences with this setup until I collect full set:

With this setup I get more HP and damage and I am using it for everything else (though I can raise my HP to 7300)

And It is far from perfect ... got low damage, resistance and critical hit. Those 3 legendary items are crap ... first opened still in use... I am not farming better ones because I rarely play him.

BTW I am using only polished and lower tier gems.

secondly. I need to remember that DK's have several healing skills which other classes don't have. So it't no harm that you got hit, you can heal yourself.

In PvE, a DK has a lot of advantage. I farm Q6m2 solo with no problem. Think any other class will have difficulties with this.

But in PvP, DK's have sevaral huge disadvanges. Not only need they come close and got hit (but can't do enough dmg to heal themselves) but the point system is also oriantated towards 'dmg done'. SW and RA can really SPAM the arena, inflicting much more dmg and thus getting more points then DK's.

    But ...

This posts seams to be directed to mainly PvE, so i will answer that way;)

You are obviusly a newer player, so try to be patient and keep playing a bit more on your DK EDIT .

Remember, this game is about grinding for good gear. 1,8k armor is very low, but standard for a new DK. The ranger you are talking about probably has played a lot and farmed better gear. A lot better gear than yours, since the amount of armor and HP from gear varies from class to class. DK´s get almost the double amount of HP compared to mages. But we do need them for tanking;)

Remember, each class has strengths and weaknesses. DK´s become able to tank very hard hits after some farming, and when you start building up your DMG, you will realise what DK´s does best, is regen;)
Likewise, mages have very low defence, but they easily gets high DPI(damage performance index: http://dsopage.bplaced.net/http://dsopage.bplaced.net/), and they have the advantage of very good crowd-control and stunning.
Rangers have balenced defense, but lacks crowdcontrol, yet they can place extreme dmg in a matter of very few seconds.

When it comes to building a good DK for PvE, start getting some defence, it is much more fun being able survive. Next start improving dmg to get an overall better peformance of your char.

Just remember, DK´s is the probably the hardest class in the start, because PW can be hard to tank, but in the end DK´s is the best class for soloing everything in PvE(as far as i am expirenced, which is 2½ years of play).

If you like the game, keep on working on your DK. Focus on events and "free" gear(already ID´ed), PW´s is nearly a waste of time, except farming Q2 and Q3 for ander and CoTs, and Q6m2 for glyphs.

Ditto what all those other people said... I have 5561 armor and 9611 HP. That didn't happen by accident. That came from playing 3 years of playing and lots of farming (time spent farming for andermant for gems, time spent on events for good gear, time spend farming for items to melt for glyphs... you get the picture?) Play for a bit more than 3 months before you decide that the DK class is under powered.

Maybe I'm getting a slightly different tack to Plunderpigge's post.... If I am reading it right, there is a minor complaint about a DK not having enough armor at the point in the game he is at. However there is a slightly larger complaint that the players he is with rely on him to do all the killing and don't back him up - running and hiding instead.

There is nothing worse than being in a group of players when there is no teamwork. Each toon has its own pluses and minuses and should be played to their own skill. I find it frustrating when other players just wait for the one player (whoever it is) kills off the mob or boss and then they rush in for the drops.

Now if the ranged character is doing a good share of damage and is still avoiding being hit (running, using terrain, etc.) then they are doing their share. Personally, when I play in a group, I tend to try to protect whichever character is losing points the fastest. And of course, if I am the one losing the most HP, I start running faster. :)

Yeah ... sure ... thats why when I was in the event this morning ... (you know ... the one designed for the players that pay to play or are already of GOD status ) ... I had the best food I could buy with gold because I have no more ander left and blue essence for the same reason ... and ... was continually dying within 30 seconds of hitting the battlefield ... WHILE SOLO'ING ... because I was told solo'ing was easier than running with a crowd ... So go try to get to the first dungeon without dying ... you know the one that takes 30 pearls ... who cares what you can get or what it costs if the event is designed in a manner as to not allow certain players to reach it ... I have spent over 10 gold repairing in less than 4 hours while running this event and thats at 11-13 silver per repair ... Its a bunch of hogwash if ya ask me ... I believe -"what I see" ... NOT ... "what I am fed" ...

Plunderpiggie, try baiting out monsters rather than running headlong into huge mobs. When you see monsters approaching, just wait until they come to you and then fight them, don't run to meet them. This way you will fight only a few monsters at once so tanking should be a breeze if you use stuns properly. You will be able to run into huge mobs (and survive) after you get you gear set up.

I've played DK when I have to do dailies for my partner when he's at work and his character is delicious. He tanks something fierce for his level (good armor level + HP) and can definitely put my SW to shame at times if it weren't for me pulling stuff out of my dress sleeves. I would say main focus is crafting good legendary equipment (patience required) and keep an eye out for unique drops worth using. If you want to have it easy, get a premium account to save the CoT to ID legendary/unique items only and cut the costs down so you could at least have full extraordinary armor set minimum to get by in the interim. That and extra storage while farming item drops helps.

And trust me, I can solo excavation map with my squishy SW... if you can't solo excavation with your DK... you really have issues. Even I can get by the event dungeons solo farming pearls with my buddy's alt DK in Agathon which is only lv 20 with mostly white gear (save one or two items that are of extraordinary status).

Tanks probably have more potential than any other class, read what guys whose main toon is tank say and you'll see what power they can reach.

I'm essentially reminding you what is not legal. It's you who agreed on those Terms & Conditions, I'm sorry you don't find them satisfying enough to follow but they are here for a reason, to protect you.

And honestly, noup. We're kind of not allowed to talk to users in private. I'm sorry that you feel called out, I think my "calling out" was pretty polite, unlike your answer along with your little threats. ;)

Now I'm done discussing this matter, thanks! :)

It's really hard to fail at playing DK unless one really has no clue or has not bothered to take time and learn the abilities and talents a DK has. And to show impatience about ones weaknesses is easily rectified. Buy gems. Or don't complain about DK inability to fight.
It's all a reflection of the DK operator and not the toon itself.

Thank you for closing on the matter but I assure you don't have to feel sorry at all. I find it amusing you interpret that my answers accompany with threats when you deleted my secondary response so others couldn't determine you've completely misread my opinion out of context.

Now to get the unnecessary digression back onto proper topic, I completely agree with multitoonz's comment. It was along the lines of what I was trying to express to the thread creator before my original comment got derailed.

the answer is simple. More time = better toon.
Even ultra rich spenders can't do it in short time.

Don't know if anyone has given you this advice as I couldn't be bothered to read any more...
I can see your pain as this is what I went through when starting my DK for the first few months, so here's my knowledge/advice. If you use a two handed sword switch to one hand and a shield (this is to achieve a high block rate, explained later on, I recommend the full moon event shield). Don't focus on armour value and hit-points (hp), focus on block rate and hp. In my opinion having a high block rate (60% + , preferably 65% +) is much better than a high or very high armour value, this is because when you successfully block an attack the damage received is usually halved, depending on your block amount could be more or a tiny bit less (do not confuse block amount and block rate as the same thing, block rate is whether or not you block the hit, block amount is the reduced damage due to blocking the hit) thus you will be able to tank/take more damage. In addition select the talent mighty wild swing (unlocked at level 35 on your experience tree) to be able to restore your hp for a percentage of the amount of damage dealt to mobs using this skill.

I think that should help you for now with your drop in hp in a pretty short amount of time problem. So the next step after block rate and hp would be high damage and high critical hit rate to be able to restore maximum hp per mighty wild swing. And save your andermant for gems or purple/red essence. If you need any more help let me know ;) , best of luck.

P.S. My 45 DK is doing very good :D.
