You only get +50 mana if the robe is upgraded to level 50. That is about 2 million glyphs. If you don't mind that, that's awesome!

I farmed Sigri for grimmag's robe many many times, but never got one. But I got one in Hailstone mountains from one of the trolls if that helps. I also got the legendary robe that I talked about in Hailstone mountains.

2 mil is nothing for a good item. I have low level weapon decoration that I have spent 2.1 mil to get to 40 and by the time I get it to 45, it will be 5 mil.

I hear that, I added my invested glyphs up a few weeks ago to answer a guildies question and rounded a bit but came up with 43 mil, all farmed btw. And the sad part is not a 50 item in the mix.

It's an endgame robe. I myself am using witch chaser set atm, it's working for me but I would like to switch to grimm robe/dark helm-shoulders/roshan in the future. I've farmed for it for months. I've spent 1 month on just logging in and ONLY farming that. I might break my golden rule and go for Shady's if he shows up, depends how tempted I am...

Should be able to kill sig normal about 100times an hour at least, you should be able to get it in a day if you're that hardcore about it

HAHAHAHAHA...yeah. If that we're true, I'd have over 100 of them. No rudeness or exaggeration intended.

I did around 150 sigris normal runs and nothing... All runs in 2 days now when I close my eyes I see sigris in a darkness holding grimmags robe up high.(

I gave up on it after two weeks of farming and nothing. Back then I thought having spent 3 days to get Arachna's staff was too much, so I don't know how I managed to keep pounding at Sigri for a couple of weeks. Now... well, now I just wish some items/quests would only take a few weeks xD.

Because of recent events I feel like I should be answering here and I hope I am not reviving an old thread.
After the tweaks made to the Normal Bosses I decided it is a good time to start farming Sigri Normal for Grimmag's Starry Robe. It was a fortunate turn of events that I was investigating the unique items and their evolution at level 50, and boy was I impressed by this item. Just compare it with the Master's Pauldrons - the mana gain is more than amazing. And the armor is again nothing to scoff at. It seems perfect for a mage that can take advantage of so much mana.
I did not truly believe that drops are that random and I was sure uniques drop really rarely for me just because... well they do. There were months when I would not drop a single unique. Probably because in reality I do not do M2s and Qs so consistently, having quite a few runs per day (we are talking 5-10 runs of M2 per day... that's really not a lot). So I made an experiment, I told myself I would kill Sigri Normal as much as necessary to get this robe.
Did it work? Yes! It did take a lot more than I would have expected. Around 2000+ kills to be honest. Prior to the hotfix I even saw no legendaries, I am suspecting that for a short while between 152 and the hotfix the legendaries and uniques were omitted from the normal bosses. The actual drops on a high level of kills suggests this, not just a random hunch on 3-4 runs. We are talking about 1200 runs without a single legendary and two instances with absolutely NO DROP (remember now Normal bosses guarantee a blue or a gem, which is quite good if you can do it repeatedly really fast... I earned like 500 gold in 5 days of farm).
The time to kill Sigri Normal for a well farmed Level 45 spellweaver is very small - around 35 seconds with the load time inside and outside the map. It was a very repeatable, slow and rather frustrating task. But looking in perspective, the effort was highly worth it that it took me 5 days to farm a unique. It proved to me that there is no such "you can't drop it" clause put on our characters but just a random generator behind-the-scenes. What's even funnier is that I even tried to prove correlations related to critical damage and using powerful essences or various strategies. Nope, the turns I used blue/purple/red essence were not convincing enough to prove that this is relevant. It was the same Strike-Strike-Teleport-Strike-Strike-Missiles-Strike-Strike strategy. That was it. A kill was incredibly fast! The time I got the unique I had absolutely no essence and I did nothing "special" out of it. The party members don't matter either - I helped my level 31 friend make the event at the same time, so it was rewarding from a certain point.

Now onto the discussion on how good this item is... I am wearing Witch Chaser Armor set right now, with Ring of Inner Fortitude, and no other sets. A very good book (+81 damage - I'll post it later in the show-off thread), a good wand, damage belt, adornment & amulet, no Roshan's Wisdom... glass cannon high-damage-speed-critical/low-armor-hp mage.
What is the alternative? Well of course getting the Roshan's Wisdom set would allow me to increase the HP & armor in the detriment of damage and speed. It goes very well with the Witch Chaser Armor set because you can put them at the same time. Dragonache works if you have the draken for it (I'm still saving my draken ~7000 until I get to see what the gnob brings for level 50).
But what if I did not put the Witch Chaser Armor set? At some point I considered having the Legendary Essence Armament set backed up by Cap of Death (which of course I do not yet possess). Similar to this approach is the The Legendary King's Armor set (right side covered by a set).

And then I discovered Grimmag's Starry Robe... why is it that fabulous? Not sure yet, but the +55 mana feels exciting enough for me. I want to give the "lots of mana" path a chance. What can you do with lots of mana? Lightning Strikes of course. As a combo mage I enjoy the strikes-mindcontrol-teleport-strikes-teleport-strikes approach at quickly obliterating bosses and armies. So how far away can I take this? With the Robe I cannot use Witch Chaser Armor, or Legendary Essence Armament or even The Legendary King's Armor. BUT there is a set I had dismissed until now: Black Warlord Regalia. Why? I am looking at the +30% mana AND +30% two-handed weapon clause. The boost of mana can be further improved with two Ring of Inner Fortitude. The result? Absurd: About 266. That's a total of 5 lightning strikes. With a teleport alone 10 lightning strikes. As for the two-handed weapon, all this farm gave me the gold I needed to buy Emilia's staff "Royal Stroke of Lightning Staff". It doubles strikes damage after it was already amplified by the Black Warlord Regalia.
Result? 130% base x 250% of the lightning strike x200% = 650% of the base damage for each single lightning strike. Double that with a critical strike. A booming 1300%. Sure, it happens only for the lightning strikes and SURE, in PVP they are not a big deal. I am a big PVE player myself anyway. The glass cannon I am right now gets obliterated by warriors and I need to find a way to solve this issue (maybe I need to give up all that attack speed and focus more on defending myself better - Witch Chaser Armor set feels horrific in PVP to be honest and the gloves I have are total garbage).

I'm curious what you guys feel about my strategy and point of view? Is it complete c*ap or does it make any sense? I know in the end there is no "one way" of doing things, but it's the reason why I feel Grimmag's Starry Robe is indeed a great item and opens up potential, even though it blocks some highly popular and nevertheless decent sets.

The plans I have in mind for my own SW are pretty similar, so your post does make sense. However, I probably wouldn't go for the glass cannon build myself, because we're pretty squishy anyway. Oh, and you should first look at upgrading to lv45 and the slowly going up to 50, because the glyph cost will be demoralizing if you're calculating for multiple pieces. Good luck, and congratulations on dropping the robe!

That's what I'm doing :) Right now it's at level 39. I plan to upgrade it slowly but surely. At this point I got absolutely no glyphs over the past month because I saved for Emilia's Staff. Now that I have it I can finally stop selling pretty much everything (I probably still need to sell greens to be able to afford green essence... I don't use buffs except for very rare occasions).
With Black Warlord Regalia I feel the glass cannon is no longer that... glassy. I can probably experiment with Roshan (once I have it of course - I will start Gorga sprees similar to what I did with Sigri to get them since this strategy proves it actually works). But the Regalia itself is not as squishy as Karabossa's set, in fact even Grimmag's Starry Robe ensures a pretty darn good armor value. And if not, I can give up on some more speed by replacing my horrendous gloves for a pair that boosts my armor & health pretty great!
Ultimately I play based on strategy. I like to run around and avoid monsters rather than stay and tank them. It feels more strategy-oriented, less "Me like, me smash, me happy". Besides, I always do parallel worlds with tanks in front, leaving me plenty of opportunities to wreck chaos from behind.

Yeah, some good defense for when you do get hit will make your build much more reliable and easier to play, while ensuring somehow that if, say, you get distracted for a second mid-fight, you don't die on the spot. Anyway, what server are you playing on? You seem like a nice fella (love the way you edited your post above; kind of what I'd do :D) and it'd be nice to play with you. Cheers!

Thanks :) If you have a character on Heredur, contact me via forum conversation and we can discuss details ^^ (I don't seem to be able to send a private message via this forum... kinda weird really)

Heredur? Perfect! Yeah, I don't seem to be able to see a way to have a discussion on here without using an actual thread, but my name's exactly as the one I'm using here. So you can add me in your friends' list and give me a shout when I'm online (I'll be trying to finish the event starting tomorrow, so I'll be on soon - not right now because I have to study for one last exam). I'm not that good (consider myself decent at least), but I'm always striving to get better :D. See you in-game!

The Grimmag's Robe + Warlord Set combo is what I have been using for the past few months. I combine it with a leg staff as opposed to the 3k gold one, since the leg staff's damage is higher for all spells rather than just lightning strikes.

There is also nothing wrong with playing glass cannon style if you want. Using that set, I normally have 1.5k-1.7k armor at any given time. I also pvp in this setup since I tossed out my 1h set in favor of bag space for farming, lol.
