well most of our gears would become useless due to the huge amount of GOPs we need to upgrade just to lvl 50 upgrading them beyond is out of question... if the items are event uniques we can get new from the monthly events like new moon and full moon... but the bigger problem will be dark armor set...

we all have worked so hard for abt a year to save all those drakens by participating in many events and we bought the dark set from gnob with those hard earned drakens... with lvl 50 dark set will go useless due to the huge amount of gops it would need to upgrade to just lvl 50... and all the hard work we did to complete the set will goto waste with it...

when DSO release lvl 50 they should consider this and do something about the amount of gops it takes to upgrade dark set or give us back our drakens... they should do either one of these or it will so unfair for our hardwork to go to waste......

I am sure there will be some changes to the upgrade and higher upgrade ability. Remember they do have teams for new content and gear is going to factor in there.

A simple way to approach the issue with upgrades are implement a new way passed level 50. Once a new city is implemented there will be a new upgrade from 50-60 and it will use something else. Maybe only gear level 46+ has this new form of glyph.

    Prakash,

It looks like you are appealing to have your Dark Gear compensated or upgraded when the level expansion occurs. I'm not sure that makes sense on any level. Nobody is guaranteed a permanent dominant position in this game. If that was the case, it would be very boring. On the bright side, we'll all be in the same boat. Heck, I can think of some very impressive players that have come and gone and if they returned now, their gear would be crud. It's the natural progression of the game; new challenges require new talents and gear.

We'll all be making very tough choices on what to melt and what to upgrade. Luckily, your gems will come along for the ride on the new gear and if you have been smart those gems are mighty fine.

The only real remorse I can see is anyone who was lured by Gnob in the last month or so. If you didn't know a level expansion was in the works, you simply were not paying attention. Draken, Clovers, Jesters, Gold; all of these should have been giving you pause in the last six months to noodle out a longer term (post 45) strategy. In the bigger picture, all player should want new challenges. If your goal was to sail through the new content, you missed the point of how to have fun in this game.

    Challenge Yourself and Have Fun,

Desert what you are saying could be acceptable for normal gears cuz they can be replaced my farming but items like dark set that are bought for drakens could not be replaced... and everyone knows it is almost impossible to lvl your gears to lvl 50 without a lot of money in the present situation... so they should do something about it... and farming gop for lvl 50 upgrade for one item would take months

Sorry, I disagree. What you think of as a bug is actually a feature.

What you should expect to do is use your current gear to obtain new gear.

Also, it would mean that all those people who look like clones of each other (Dark with Keens/Roshans/Yackaks) will have to go out and find something new... Diverse. Personally, I'd be looking forward to the next Dragan event so I could upgrade, by farming the event, my dark warlord set. The thing I would hate to see go would be Keen's, but I'll just have to get over it and see what LVL 50 uniques they release.

The Dark set was the best set available for most people when it came to the game. But it will not be outdated with the new level cap increase to 50. It was outdated with the LAST level cap increase to 45. The Dark set is a nice improvement for some toons, but is far from the best gear available. If it was an improvement for your toon when you bought it then it was a good investment, but expecting some form of compensation or consideration because you spent Draken would be unwarranted since you bought it as an intermediary step knowing the game would change

I could make the same argument for the dragonache set. I'm sure there will be new legendary gear that rivals the dragonache. That doesn't mean we should get some compensation if we decide to upgrade it.

Agreed on all points. I'm still using 3xDark/3xKeen. It can still be effective if you raise the levels of all the pieces >45-46. But if the possible upper level of equipment becomes 55-60, it will not be viable to keep going with this setup (unless they provide some "outside the box" solution for us to make this older equipment fit into the new system). Questing for new armor will be necessary in that case. That's fine, it's part of an evolving system. (I may not be playing too much by that time, anyway.)

What will be extremely painful for many people is hitting the melt key to get GOP out of their Dark set.

Side note: At a minimum stay with us in the forums Multi. We need you with us to help keep the teeter totter balanced;).

I think you nailed it here. In investment terms, his Draken set was a Fixed Annuity but he really wanted a Fixed-Indexed Annuity. None of the gear is indexed to the game economy, xp, and gear 'inflation'. On the bright side, you have pointy shoulder guards you can wear while you stand around in Urban Areas and chat.

Buahaahaa, I love these types of posts that many can only infer meaning. I feel like you deserve an "in this economy?" response.:D:D

Hehe, yeah, I know what you mean. I'm still playing DSO a little. I do my daily quest, most of the time. Some days I even spend an hour or two killing Khalys, for no reason ( *%$#%* non-dropping sword!). But, yeah, I'll have to see what the future holds.

Speaking of the forums, I'm having a lot of issues with it not loading. It doesn't seem to affect any other websites I visit. I'll post a tech issues thread. I'm probably not the only one.

On topic: Maybe a good compromise would be to sell another Draken set, similar or the same as the Dark Set, but starting at level 50 base. That way, we'd at least have gotten good use from the old set and can use the GoP from melting it to improve the new set. Most people who have had Dark gear a long time will (probably) have the Draken to afford a new set. (Unless you bought all of the Dragonache set too.) Anyway, it's an idea. (Maybe they can make the pauldrons on a new set a little less traffic-cone looking ;) )

OP, you no longer make any sense.

Can we close this thread? It seems meandering and pointless.

On Topic, there are several things i'm thinking about with the new cap increase. I started saving boxes and drops a while back but: Based on things that happened last time:

Will Legendary chests, login boxes, shabby chests, mystic cubes, etc.; contain level 50 items or will I have to wait for them to get around to the Hot Fix.

If the cap raises to 50 will Item level raise to 55 with GOP upgrade or will it be 60?

Will Knowledge, PVP, and Skill capabilities be upgraded to 50 with the release or will we have to continue waiting for Knowedge and PVP as before.

How big a difference will level 50 items have in enchant numbers. This will help me know what to keep and what to toss.

Is the PW system going to be expanded, will it have new gear worth chasing?

There's probably 20 more, but you get the idea.

isn't the whole point of an exp to make a fresh slate for everyone

Absolutely, it drives us and gives new items, skills, etc and makes everyone work at something enjoyably at new content. A fresh start is, in the long run, a good thing.

But planning for it can ease the pain of the change to some degree, like saving event items from one to the next, and not knowing the answer to some of those questions makes knowing what to do in preparation harder.

  18. As has been explained: the decision whether to glyph up an obsolete set to try and keep it relevant or farming for better items, is a decision you will have to make. You parted with the drakens when you bought the Dark set. They are gone. The same as if you purchase an emote/costume and then want to discard it. What you will get back, if you melt the Dark set, is the invested glyphs. You can then put these into items which aren't obsolete. This is the same as for any other piece of equipment.
