Isn't DSO a bit too demanding?

So I run DSO on this rig:

AMD FX 8350
AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
16Gb DDR3

As some of you may know the stock heatsink & fan on the FX 8350 sucks. Playing Crysis 3 is, for example, putting quite a bit of a load on my PC. That being said, the CPU temp goes up and the fan has to keep up the pace, ramping the RPM to 6k+

For Crysis 3, that is understandable. Not for DSO. Let's be honest here, my rig should barely flinch when I run DSO, and yet, it's like I'm playing Crysis or BF4 on it.

The CPU load is enormous for a browser game, lol (i run it from the client). Even my Radeon R9 is too worked up while playing DSO.

Now, I've asked around a bit. The guys (professionals) checked up DSO and they told to go for the lowest possible settings in the game and see what happens. So I did and nothing changed. The overall load was just slightly changed, with no huge differences.

Been wondering how and where to ask.. but.. isn't there an optimization issue on DSO? Mind you, I'm not asking for a better game optimization. How could I when it takes months to fix one bug? I just want to know if you think this is the case and you have a solution for it.

Any ideas or thoughts?

PS: Please, please don't tell me to contact support. I am posting under TECHNICAL SUPPORT and I don't want to contact DSO Romania support again, until you hire new peeps.

 

Since the game is java based I think java might be a contributing to you problem. I think there are settings in java but since I use thin client I have not use java in a very long time. My suggestion is to use the task manager to watch the cpu load while the game is running. I have ran the game on a lot of computers and none are having this problem. I also don't use the browser. May I also suggest you try chrome and IE and see if the load changes. I know browsers are notorious with having memory holds and once had a problem where IE had 2.3G of memory for a simple phpbb forum Web site.

 

Like I said, I'm not playing DSO in browser. I use the client with all the content downloaded. Gonna run some more tests and see what I get.

 

I wonder if video drivers are at play here then.

Are there multiple versions of display drivers you can try. In the past I have found some newer drivers have issues with game write on older direct x. I am going to see what DirectX version the game is written in.

 

Well i have noticed that as well i use lenovo gaming laptop ,laptop i know ,i have no problems playing other games but when it comes to dso thing are different ,before every patch ,every event and all the way thru high cpu usage almost double
Urban areas esp king double almost always ,only place when cpu seems to be at normal lvl is arena .My friends get up to 50% or even more recently ,out of dso cpu is normal .
we all play via client ,i have choose the best graphic driver to play dso and this is not the latest one ,what seems to be good for other games isn't working for dso as it is expected why?

Test this and see.

my windows vista laptop runs the game fine as long as I keep shadows at min. Only when I run max settings does it slow down. My laptop is 6 years old.
