You are talking to long bow user (PVE and PVP).

I ment the overall player base that use longbows. My point was that 90% (for speculation) of the RA's use shortbow.
It is very hard to see someone running with end-game longbow build, specialy for pvp.

At the beggining not really many DK's used 2h, now they are overflowing. SW's are heading there too. Where are the longbow RA's?

I have a long bow that puts my max dmg over 1900 with mid level gems in it and it's not upgraded. If I wanted to waste gold swapping gems back and forth it would be close to 2k. It is a boss killer that saves me ess when I use it. There are plenty of folks that use Long bow for their primary build.

Part of the determination for most in which is more "appealing" is that short's are preferred in PVP because the speed offers several advantages beyond damage and most do not want to have two setups, so they go with short bow. The other factor is the aesthetic one that when in grps if you have a faster attack speed it "appears" that you are doing more damage. This is an inaccurate assessment and replicates why the DK 2-handed build was slow to pick up and now is a common build.

I agree that the lack of a 2-handed option for RA is a factor and always willing to support that. We need a 3rd option for a weapon that is 2-handed. A "Battle Bow" or "Heavy Cross-bow" with enchantment levels(within reason) equivalent to other class 2-handers. This has been discussed in other threads.

    At trakilaki,
Make a video and prove that longbows are usefull in PvP. I would totally love to see how half of the rangers re-roll to longbow.
Make the move that made alot of the DK's to re-roll from sword and shield. No sarcasm at all here !

I have sincerely thought of going to the dark side and finding gear to go with the long-bow build although that in itself could be debated. I enjoy having an alternative build and have done so since i've been gaming. My biggest hurdle in doing so is that my short bow is a top 3% kind of bow and unless I find an equivalent Long it would be hard to switch. However, when level cap is increased and finding replacement gear becomes a factor, all bets are off and I will be looking for said longbow.

The overall player base is using short bows ... that is correct. That is why I am using ONLY longbow ... since I start playing this game.
Now ... why are they using shortbows?
    1. Because they think DPS is most important thing. That is not correct ... because that would apply only on stationary targets (scientists are calling that "testing in vacuum" where influence of outside forces or factors are nullified).
    2. Because it is a lot more harder to achieve descent attack speed and damage with long bow ... it is easy to achieve that with short bow.

I have nothing to prove to you. I have a lot of postings on this subject here and the old forum. I got over 1500 posts here and over 600 on old forum ... you can do a search and seek what you are interested in. :D
Everyone who knows me ... knows that I am playing with long bow PVE and PVP ...
At last ... but not least ... it takes knowledge and experience for something to be discussed ...
How can one debate on a topic that is not familiar with?

You will not prove it to me, I want you to prove it all the rangers that use shortbow, that longbows is a choice to consider more deeply than before. If you dont want, thats ok.

I'm not debating I have expirience in using longbow build. I'm saying that there is noone to prove the shortbow users that there is a second option for weapon build.

Ohhh yeahhh ... sharing others opinion without even try playing with long bow. :D
Not every short bow is good ... not every long bow is good as well.
Screens of some of the fights in addition ... (dare you to enter the arena and count the shots :D) :
1, 2, 3, 4, the last screenshot is in whole 5 ... just note the game version and the date ... I am playing more than 3 years and I have never used short bow.
Once I reached the AKOTO rank I stopped playing arena for more than a year ... because it was too boring for me. I am still playing occasionally ... only when I need to clean the inventory out of the green essences.

Imo, to use longbow not everyone are skilled. That as well depends how RA is build. If you're playing with longbow since beginning, that's okay, you automatically build ur RA as longbow user, you get use some tactics to stay alive. But as known that most of people have "little" patience with longbows, because RA have to use mark skills before they shoot true damage. And that make sense why short bow users feel odd to use long bow.
Anyway, i never was lucky to find legendary op longbow, lol. And im really worried if i could use it since i'm playing with short bow only.

And trakilaki, ur amazing if u can play as well with long bow in pvp. Im sure that sacrificed some time before u get really skilled to use long bow in pvp. :D

A lvl 45 long bow has 106 average dmg and 0.83 speed, a short bow has 67 dmg and 1.05 speed. This means that the long bow needs 2 high speed bonus to reach the short bow (26,5% total), the short bow needs 1 high dmg bonus (39).
There can be good setups with top long bows, but generally speaking short bows are better.

Yes it is completely different build from the one that uses short bow. You can't expect using long bow efficiently ... with the same set of gear, skills and talents as short bow.
My experience and fame tree talents are different from those of short bow users.

well, i accept the statements of trikilaki on long bows, but i am eager to see the stat of your char and the long bow stats , so that i could search for one long bow like that , as a short bow user, i have never ever seen a confident long bow which gives the feeling that yeah this would be perfect, can u post those stats and what are the things we should min and max expect from an op long bow please.

As a PvE player (tank build), I really like the longbow. But if I could find a decent one, I wouldn't mind giving the shortbow a shot (yeah I punned). What's making that tougher than usual these days, though, is that my last few bow drops have all been longbow.

Does the game/software track what we use? Does it "know" I'm a longbow user, and that's why the shortbows (for me) have seemingly disappeared? Or is this simply luck, and I'm just in a shortbow-drop desert?

(Generally I wonder how much the game monitors us and how much of what's supposed to be random may be subtlely skewed.)
