I've been playing MMo's since EQ came out over 17 years ago. I've played pretty much everyone thats ever released in that time. What I have not seen except in a Korean MMo's is a US server full of people not speaking English. Seems a bit odd that Spanish/Portguese seems to be the main language spoken on a US east cost server. I have to ask why didn't the devs put in a South American server as it is now. If you speak English your pretty much pushed to play on the Euro servers where the player base is multi lingual. Because of the latency issues across the pond your basicly forced to play on the East coast server and have almost no one to play with because of this language barrier. Figured with the amnt of people that love old school DnD that this game would have no problem running a dedicated server just for the US player base.

  2. DSO servers are located Berlin and in California. Each location has a variety of language users. The two US servers, for example, have players who speak English, Spanish, Filipino, Portuguese, Indonesian, etc. The European servers have users of an even greater linguistic variety. Many players who have a language other than English as their main language are either fluent in English as well or at least understand basic in-game requests - e.g "Group for Khalys", "Group 18-23 for event". If you find it particularly frustrating grouping with non-English speakers, you can find several language-specific guilds on each server. If you cannot find one, post a request on the DSO Forum.

I'm on Agathon as well and I find that if you just start typing in English, you are likely to find English speakers. Personally, I find that the Brazilians are just a bit more bold in the chat box than Americans.

I too am on Agathon. Ninety-nine times out of one-hundred, I am not talking in town chat. I usually only chime in when I see someone asking a question or looking for other English speakers.* The rest of the time, if I want to chat, it is in guild chat or in whispers to friends.

    * They usually ask "Does anyone here speak English?" and I usually respond with semi-sarcastic humor, "Nope, I don't understand a word of it, but I fake it real well."

Han, what a big problem... (really?) and know nothing about European servers.
Trust me, I wish read English at European servers, not RUSSIAN everywhere, who should have own server. They said that they no need to know English, that others players need learn russ language and always in grp they wrote in theirs letters (bukwy). doesn't matter that rest of grp write in English and ask him do it same.

    1) Get to know one English speaking player
    2) Join his guild or ask him about other guilds and chose yours and join one of them
    3) Talk to your guildies about other English speaking guilds
    4) Make friends and they will intro you to a lot others

5)By now, You are part of the English speaking community

And try to learn Spanish as you play DSO, being able to speak many tongues has it's own perks ;)

No language barrier exist. It exists only if one wants it to exist.
I have been playing with players without saying a word (in any language) ... we were communicating using our character's skills.

Very recently, I was in Q1 Atrium and needed to go use the restroom. By the time I came back, I had a group invitation pending, and as that group could've only been for Grimmagstone, I accepted (farmed Madok for items because I didn't unlock M2 yet... got both an offensive and a defensive offhand better than what I previously had). Point is, all of them were talking in Spanish. I didn't even bother with the chat, just got down to business and played along. Managed to do quite a few rounds before I understood they were gonna switch and go farm Fairy Wood in Blackborg. When they did, I just said "Goodbye, and thanks" and based on their replies, I understood they got my message. So there's that. For things like such specific grouping, there's no real barrier (as Allogeneous said, basic in-game requests are pretty helpful). If you want more elaborate stuff like discussions and the sort, find a guild... add English-speaking people you happen to stumble upon and play with in your friends' list... and you'll have less language-related problems and probably also a easier time finding groups.

    Hi guys,
I am not sure exactly where I have to lodge a suggestion for the developers, I am therefore trying here.
Registered an account on Agathon, played for a few days and spent a lot of cash (hundreds) and realized ... no English speaking people. What a disaster!
Yes, for some players it's just a game, and they don't care about communication as much. For me personally, it is both. I have a very powerful character on Tegan server, spent around 3 years on it, and developed a number of good relationships. We play the game and enjoy it. And communication is a big part of it too.

I heard that there were suggestions to introduce a possibility of transfers between servers. I wrote to the support and [EDIT] advised me to express it here.

Introducing servers switching would be an absolutely outstanding feature. Both players and Bigpoint would benefit from it. They could introduce fees for transfers say $40 for one off transfer and $100 for 5 transfers bundle. The amount of players that would do it, would be overwhelming. Each would have their own reason: some are looking for players of the same language, some want a change, but most high rollers would look for PvP challenges on other servers. This shouldn't be difficult or resource consuming to introduce it, but it would be so lucrative for the company and greatly beneficial for the players.

Dear Admin, please move this message to the appropriate thread if this is not the right one.

    Thank you

If I make a list of players who said "no English speaking people on Agathon/Tegan" I would probably come up with a list with number of players that is enough to populate more than two servers.
Why they can't find each other is still mystery to me.

Hello, I'm on Agathon... and as far as I know, I speak English. Actually, I speak American, but who's really paying attention. When it comes to others, go look at the guild section of the forums, you will find dozens (or at least "A" dozen) of guilds that are recruiting on Agathon. Personally, I have over 100 English speakers on my friends list... they exist, they/we just aren't the most social of people in game.
